Shown (left to right) Isaiah, Tom, Rob, and Abe standing at the tee box at the OCLA Swinvitational. Held at Pelican Hill, Ocean North Golf Course in California, the 2018 OCLA Swinvitational Golf – North was a major success! With golf balls, drivers, and putters in hand, Giroux Glass’ Tom Molinaro and Rob Carter along with Swinerton project managers Isaiah Allofautuli, and Abe Espadas took to the green. It was an honor for Giroux to both participate with a 4-some and to sponsor a hole at this Swinerton Foundation fundraiser.
Giroux Glass was recently featured on Facade Tectonics website for our work on the restaurant 71 Above at the US Bank Tower. We are honored to be recognized and are proud to share this article written by Amanda Weko. We worked with SageGlass and utilized their energy-efficient dynamic glass, this electrochromic glazing eliminates the need for internal or external shading devices or glare protection. Giroux Glass installed a total of 192 insulated glass units, or almost 3,000 square feet of glass, and 48 table-side vents, which can be opened by diners to bring in a rush of fresh air and [...]
We had a party in our Los Angeles office yesterday to honor and celebrate our partner and project manager, Bruce Johnson, who recently announced his retirement. Bruce worked out of the Los Angeles office for most of his time with Giroux, and recently relocated to our San Bernardino location to reduce his commute drive time. (So some of us here in Los Angeles had to ease into missing him over the past year.) We all will be forever grateful for Bruce’s colorful personality, and his commitment to our [...]
The Las Vegas Strip’s new T-Mobile store, located less than a mile away from their new arena, is not your typical neighborhood electronics store. T-Mobile’s first two-story, signature-style space serves as a vibrant, nightclub-esque showcase for the company, complete with a virtual reality display, photo booth, juice bar, and concierge ticket desk, among other features. The 9,000 square-foot space inside Showcase mall (best known for the Coca-Cola bottle and M&M characters which embellish the Strip), replaced the Grand Canyon Experience gift shop, purchased by the Nakash family in 2014 and 2015. T-Mobile and the numerous construction teams involved, including Giroux [...]
On Tuesday night, a group of us spent a beautiful summer night watching our own “Boys of Summer,” The Los Angeles Dodgers, play the Texas Rangers. It’s become a Giroux Glass tradition for a big group to attend a baseball game together, and we’re all thankful to our Culture Committee, for coming up with yet another fun activity for all of us to enjoy. From the long walk from the parking lot, uphill in Chavez Ravine, one of the best aspects of going to a game is the hilltop panoramic view of the city, from where our ever-growing collection of [...]
Although a crane is a much easier way to set oversized glass, it’s not always an option, given the installation setting and restrictions. When this recently was the case, our Las Vegas-based Giroux Glass glazing crew went back to their roots, and installed four units of glass at 990-pounds each, the old fashioned way…. Seen in this three-part video shouldering these half-ton monstrosities, are some of our Giroux Glass journeymen glaziers, foremen, and field superintendents, including: Robert Walker, Tyrone Wade, Jason Wagner, Brian Burton, Joe Barraza, Justin Kroman, Mike Morelli, Joel Marin, Kyle Irete, Mike Duran, Eugene Cornett, Brandon Johnson, [...]
There’s been much buzz in Southern California lately over the construction of stadiums and sports facilities, including the brand new Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) training facility, built on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles, and officially opened for use in April 2018. According to the LAFC, the $30 million investment, in addition to a $1.6 million partnership with the university to be used in renovating existing facilities around campus and creating new master’s program in which students get hands-on experience with the Club, is already getting rave reviews from its new tenants. “It’s incredible,” Tyler Miller (LAFC [...]
“May the 4th be with you.” What started as pun warmly shared by fans has become a full-fledged Star Wars holiday: Star Wars Day, a special annual celebration of the galaxy far, far away. To celebrate, we thought it would be fun to share about some behind-the-scenes construction of The Void’s Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, an immersive, location-based virtual reality experience at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, CA which places visitors inside the Star Wars universe. Late last year, Giroux Glass was called in to furnish and install an exterior curtain wall system, exterior automatic all-glass sliding door system, and entrance glazing at this particular location [...]
