On Friday, December 14th I had a productive day touring a few of Giroux’s completed projects. This whirlwind expedition was guided by Jesse and included more than a couple of my Giroux partners. Stops along the way included Wynn, Palazzo and Venetian hotels, where we were able to view various challenging aspects of quality glass, glazing, façades and curtain wall installations. I really enjoyed having this opportunity to visit completed works as well as jobs in progress. This tour included several top-line and detailed office meetings as we plan for an unbelievable 2019. Looking back on 2018, we at Giroux Glass [...]
August 6th to the 10th, I spent a really nice week of visiting our different offices and job sites and it reminded me why I love working with our team at Giroux. There is so much talent at all of our Giroux Glass locations. This week in particular was a whirlwind tour. Over the years, I’ve been consistently impressed by how prepared for visitors are our on-site crews are when random visitors appear. It is a testament to their training, professionalism and passion, and this visit was not an exception. Every single team member was equipped, knowledgeable, safe, polite. It [...]
When NAWIC LA asked me to share my story on February 20th, I opted to share “Lessons Learned” throughout my life, my career, and the seventeen years I’ve been with Giroux Glass, Inc.. As a CEO and a mom, I knew I didn’t want to give a speech on how to achieve the perfect work-life balance; that would’ve been a 30-second conversation for me (Pick the most pressing priority at that moment!). But I did want to share my passion for mentorship and life-long learning, which I could talk about endlessly. I decided to reflect on my life experiences, and [...]
There are times we land special projects close to my heart. This is one of them! On January 29th, USC formally kicked off the $270-million renovation project that will preserve and improve the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. One of So Cal’s most beloved historical landmarks and home of the USC Trojans will officially become the United Airlines Memorial Coliseum beginning in August 2019. Giroux Glass is honored to be the glazing contractor for this historic undertaking. The stadium — the only venue in the world to have hosted two Olympics, two Super Bowls and a World Series — will [...]
Warmest holiday greetings to you and yours, from your friends at Giroux Glass! We feel very fortunate to be part of a tight-knit group of colleagues, who value time for fun and family. To celebrate the holidays, Giroux Glass employees gathered at three different locations throughout the Southwest to cap off another eventful year in construction. Our four teams (Nevada Operations, Fresno, Los Angeles and San Bernardino locations) each hosted parties at local restaurants, including Luminarias in Monterey Park, CA; Sierra Gold in Las Vegas, NV; and BJ’s in Fresno, CA. Spouses and special guests were welcome to join in [...]
It’s remarkable when company owners pass on their ownership to their children. What is it when an owner of a company chooses to provide for many families by passing ownership to her employees? It’s unbelievable. . . . and rarely takes place. Yet that is exactly what Anne-Merelie Murrell did for her employees when she transferred her majority ownership to all of us, the employees of Giroux Glass. She made us all owners and partners. Thank you, Anne-Merelie, for the gift of employee ownership! With big dreams, expertise, and the best union glaziers and office staff, we’re dedicated to making [...]
I’m happy and so proud to share that the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ) has deemed Giroux Glass, Inc. the 83rd “Fastest Growing Private Company” in Los Angeles County. Earlier this month, I attended a cocktail reception hosted by LABJ at City Club LA, to learn of our company’s rank out of the 100 companies being honored that evening. It’s a big deal to me to be recognized as a company that is still growing and reaching new heights, especially considering our history of tremendous growth. When Anne-Merelie Murrell purchased Giroux Glass, Inc. in 1991, the company generated less than [...]
As 2016 comes to an end, we reflect on the blessing, as well as the accomplishment, of Giroux Glass thriving as a 70-year-old company. To list all of the changes since 1946 would be endless, so let’s look back just 20 years. While preparing for the new year, I was cleaning through some old files and found a "Wish List" from 1996! I was bewildered by how much Giroux has changed through the past 20 years, changes I'm sure are similar to what other similar-sized companies also have experienced.
