Giroux Installs New Skylight on Historic Elrod House

Located in a private and secluded residential area at the top of a hill, the Elrod House has been home to many notable occupants through the years. The 1968 hilltop residence is being completely renovated, and this is the first of what we hope will be more future projects with general contractor DBGC. The scope of our work: this is our first time working on this historic house – it’s been recently purchased and currently undergoing a major remodel. As part of this renovation a newly designed opening will allow greater natural light through the ceiling allowing for the installation [...]

“Our Planet – Our Future” Kick-off Meeting for the United Nations Los Angeles Chapter

Kick-off Meeting: “Our Planet, Our Future”, Giroux Glass, Inc. was a co-sponsor of the United Nations Association of the U.S. – Los Angeles Chapter (UNA-LA) event on October 26, 2019 – at Emerson College where Barbara Kotsos, Brian Peregrina and I attended. Brian’s lovely wife and board member of the UNA-LA Chapter, Radhika Vekaria, spoke to the group as well. The timing of the event was no coincidence: Oct. 24 was the 74th anniversary of the United Nations, and their chosen theme for the year is climate crisis, “the defining issue of our time,” and they’re dedicated to making noise [...]

Giroux Glass service dept replaces panel of glass in downtown los angeles, causing streets to be closed for the glass repair and installation

Gensler Jewel Box Glass Replacement

The Gensler architectural firm façade was our focus on a recent June-gloomy Saturday morning.  Commonwealth Partners called us in to replace one broken panel of glass — one very large broken panel — that measured over 7 feet  x 25 feet, and weighed 1,245 pounds.  It’s not the first time that the Service team from Giroux Glass has worked on what’s known as Gensler’s “Jewel Box,” right in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.   The over-sized window consisted of  ½” clear tempered glass, and was manufactured in, then shipped from China, through Glass 3 Enterprises Limited, of British Columbia, Canada.  [...]

Equinox Wilshire Giroux Glass Service Project

Glass Replacement at Equinox

Sometimes the most seemingly clear-cut, conventional tasks often don’t turn out to be (as I’m sure you’re well aware!). Recently, what began as a simple glass replacement, became a wonderful opportunity to reflect on many aspects of the glass and glazing industry. Recently, Giroux Glass hosted Sarah, a local high-school student and recipient of NAWIC-LA’s Girls in STEM Scholarship, for a day of touring around our Los Angeles headquarters and a nearby jobsite, and observing the daily duties of project managers, estimators, and CAD technicians. Our first stop of the day was at Equinox Westwood, where our Service team was [...]

Giroux Glass at Fogo De Chao San Jose

Fogo De Chao Project

Our Service team tackles some of the most diverse (and delicious-smelling) projects of any of our Giroux Glass installation and fabrication teams. One of our latest projects took us to Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse in San Jose, CA, where our team of Union glaziers (Ruben Hernandez, Dominique Castillo, and Steven Perez) were on-site for a full work week to install glass and channel at the restaurant. We installed a dark bronze anodized base shoe into the customer’s prepped opening, as well as vertical channel and ½-inch clear tempered glass. Even with the most straightforward, simple installation, some of the [...]
