The Skywalk at the Grand Canyon: 12 years later

This year is the 12th anniversary of Giroux Glass’ installation of the Skywalk, as well as our Las Vegas office’s 20th anniversary  – making it the ideal time for a first-ever visit for one excited group of visitors to the iconic landmark.  Giroux Glass ceo and president, Nataline Lomedico; Nataline’s son, Andre; Brian Peregrina, business development and client relations guru; and I joined National Glass Association’s Sara Neiswanger, and Andrew Haring, for a road trip. We each flew into Las Vegas from various airports to pile into a mini-van together for the five-hour, round-trip drive to beyond Peach Springs, Arizona. The [...]

Inspiring Photos From ENR’s “2018 Year in Construction”

We wanted to take a moment today and share ENR’s gallery of inspiration that goes back to 2003. Here at Giroux we tend to be focused on getting the job done to meet (and exceed) our client’s expectations. So when we take a moment to catch our breath and look around sometimes we see something that has that extra, shows everyone that every job can have its moment of extra special. Looking through ENR’s annual photo contest lets us get a glimpse into construction projects that do more than just get the job done. These images are able to transport [...]

“Outstanding Women in Construction and Design . . . “

. . . is the headline on this week’s Los Angeles Business Journal.  We were so proud, once again, to see listed among the 25 prominent women in our industry, our Giroux Glass, CEO and president, Nataline Lomedico, on page 26.  She shares the honor with 24 other trail-blazing women who were hand-picked by the publication as extraordinary women who have done so much to contribute to both the Los Angeles economy and to the city skyline. The entire article can be read here. Considering that women make up less than 10% of the entire industry workforce, it’s encouraging to see [...]

USGlass Releases “Hospitality Hall” Video

The new Harrah College of Hospitality building on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus, features glass on the façade and throughout the spacious interior, allowing light to brighten the learning environment. USGlass interviewed representatives of companies involved in the project from design to installation, including our project manager, Daniel Rodriguez: See video here. Fifty years ago, a small “hotel” department at a little-known university in the desert started as the “College of Hotel Administration.” Over the next five decades, it became UNLV’s flagship program, and one of the top-ranked hospitality colleges in the world. To celebrate its fiftieth [...]

Reflections of our Past Work

It seems fitting that now, as the year ends, we take a moment to look back on our company’s long history, and ponder our many past projects throughout the Downtown Los Angeles skyline. Where better to do literally that, than from the vantage point of yet another of our projects: the City National Plaza’s (CNP) top floors? This moment of reflection was motivated by an interview by the Los Angeles Business Journal, on whose list, the “100 Fastest Growing Private Companies” we recently ranked, and then became apparent that many construction companies made the list. They asked Giroux about our [...]

Providing for Employees – Providing for the Community

The Inner Cities Capital Connections just released their 2018 Impact Report and it features Giroux Glass as an example of creating inclusive prosperity in inner cities. Giroux was nominated to be a part of this report for several reasons. Noted in the opening paragraph: “When you walk into the offices of Giroux Glass in Los Angeles you’re greeted by the company’s core values printed – fittingly – on large glass walls: Growth. Integrity. Respect. Ownership. Unity. Excellence.” And this speaks to all of our partners, friends and associates. The INITIATIVE FOR A COMPETITIVE INNER CITY (ICIC) is a national nonprofit [...]

Proud to Make this List!

The Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ) has once again, just published its most recent list of LA’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies. We are thrilled to see that we not only made the list, but especially that we moved up in rank from where we landed last year.  In 2017, Giroux Glass ranked at #83 on the list.  Last week, CEO and president, Nataline Lomedico and I attended a fun event at an underground old bank vault in Downtown Los Angeles, called “The Reserve,” for the big reveal.  Amidst the other 99 curious list members, we learned that this year, we moved up [...]

Dynamic Glazing on Landmark Restaurant, 71Above, Atop the Iconic US Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles

Giroux Glass was recently featured on Facade Tectonics website for our work on the restaurant 71 Above at the US Bank Tower. We are honored to be recognized and are proud to share this article written by Amanda Weko. We worked with SageGlass and utilized their energy-efficient dynamic glass, this electrochromic glazing eliminates the need for internal or external shading devices or glare protection. Giroux Glass installed a total of 192 insulated glass units, or almost 3,000 square feet of glass, and 48 table-side vents, which can be opened by diners to bring in a rush of fresh air and [...]
