Margaritaville at Universal CityWalk

It’s always 5 o’clock at the recently-opened Margaritaville at Universal CityWalk! Margaritaville opened to the public this past April and Giroux Glass had the privilege of installing the glass at the location prior to its opening. The Margaritaville restaurants started in Key West, Florida in 1985 and have expanded to over 25 locations worldwide, but this location at Universal CityWalk is the first one in California. Before now, you’d have to drive to Las Vegas if you had a hankering for a Cheeseburger in Paradise® or a Who’s to Blame® margarita. Now Angelenoes can just make the quick commute up to Universal CityWalk.

Inspired by Jimmy Buffet’s hit song “Margaritaville,” his restaurant chain boasts a casual dining atmosphere with beach décor and live entertainment. To mark the grand opening of the Universal CityWalk location, the restaurant held a big party on March 30th complete with stiltwalkers and, of course, many margaritas. Jimmy Buffet himself even graced the stage to perform some of his biggest hits.

Giroux’s scope of work on the Margaritaville project included installing the glass at all the entryways with Nanawall bi-folding doors, as well as swing doors from Arcadia, and the storefront transom. We also installed the fire pit’s glass shark fin (which looks like a really fun place to hang out on a summer evening!), and the blue reflective mirror in the raised dining area’s steps toward the back of the restaurant.

Universal CityWalk opened in 1993 and has been a go-to place for dining, shopping, and entertainment for both tourists and locals. It has been undergoing some big changes recently with a number of new restaurants and stores. If you’re looking for a fun night out, CityWalk is a great place to go. And if you are in the mood for a margarita, definitely go to Margaritaville! As the song says, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!”
