National Rebuilding Day

One of our Las Vegas team members participated in National Rebuilding Day, April 30, with the help of our friends at Construction Leadership Council, through our local Associated General Contractors Chapter, the Nevada Contractors Association.

Tremain Roseman, a project manager with Giroux Glass, Las Vegas, was one of 15 volunteers from various companies in the local construction community who spent last Saturday helping to upgrade the Odom family home. The daylong work project also required two volunteers to plan in advance to coordinate the transport of materials to the family home, and to define the scope of work.

The ultimate scope on the residence included an ambitious to-do list that included:

  • Painting the entire house and trim
  • Moving existing rocks from the front yard to the new dog run area at the side of the house
  • Working with Gothic Landscaping to install environmentally-friendly, artificial turf in the front yard
  • Placing decorative rock in the front yard and along the property’s fence as a border to the artificial turf
  • Installing wired fencing around the home
  • Clearing the front and back yards of existing vegetation, which consisted of a rosebush, weeds and other debris scattered throughout
  • Laying down a roll of carpet
  • Installing a BBQ pit

National Rebuilding Month is an annual month-long call to service every April which culminates on the last Saturday of the month with National Rebuilding Day. The month of April has been designated the month in which the group celebrates affiliates and those who work together year-round to serve veterans, older adults, families with children and victims of disaster by providing them with a variety of critical, safe and healthy home repairs. The organization provides these repairs at zero-cost to neighbors in need, who are often faced with diminishing resources and must choose food and medicine over critical home repairs.

The local chapter, Rebuilding Together, Southern Nevada (RTSNV), believes that everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy home. RTSNV is a nonprofit organization that provides home repairs and accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners. Since 1994, RTSNV has been working with the communities of City of Las Vegas, the City of North Las Vegas, and the City of Henderson to preserve affordable homeownership by bringing volunteers and community partners together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners.

Tremain Roseman, “I was happy to help out and to represent Giroux to the local community in giving back and donating a little hard labor to spruce up the home for a well-deserving family. We completed painting, landscaping, and sprucing up the place, to help this family in a time when this is needed most.”

“We love helping the community out,” says Nadia Griffin, director of marketing and events for Nevada Contractors Association.

We extend a huge thank-you to Tremain, and to the entire volunteer crew who donated their time, labor, and wonderful work ethic to help their community. We are all grateful for your efforts that so greatly benefitted this family — your neighbors.
