John McEwen looks back on his career with Giroux Glass, where he started in Los Angeles as a glazier 26 years ago. Over the years, he progressed from his role as a journeyman glazier, to that of field foreman for the Service department. John was a major factor in the company’s progression from providing repairs throughout downtown Los Angeles high rises, to taking on increasingly larger projects. The larger projects included notable city landmarks such as the Deloitte sign, L.A. Times building, California Plaza, Santa Anita Race Track, L.A. Convention Center, U.C.L.A., U.S.C. , L.A. City College, Bonaventure Hotel, Century City Hotel, Ontario and Los Angeles Airports – and the Pacific Design Center, which he reminisces about in this video.
John has remained an integral part of our Service department all these years. In 2000, he was promoted to the role of estimator and project manager, where his expertise, communications style and relatable personality were huge assets to the Service team. In 2014, he was named assistant director of the Service department, and in 2020, relocated from our Los Angeles headquarters to the new Orange County office location.
As he ponders his past, John adds, “I truly enjoy the work that I do. Giroux Glass is a great company, filled with great people . . . that’s what has kept me here and happy for all these years.” We are grateful to have him on our team, and hope that’s where he’ll remain for many more years to come.
