Giroux Glass filming of “Inside the Blueprint”

We kicked off the New Year with an experience that was also new to our company.  In early January, in our Los Angeles headquarters, we hosted a film crew to produce a TV segment featuring Giroux Glass.

Inside the Blueprint” is a television series that highlights innovations in the commercial construction and design spaces, chronicling ideas and products that impact how we live, work and play. The goal of this segment was to explain how glazing fits into the overall construction process and to spotlight some of our work. The show is created and produced by BrandStar, whose South Florida-based crew flew to Los Angeles for the day’s filming.

We discussed a few projects that presented us with some interesting challenges, and how we worked to overcome them.  Our CEO and president, Nataline Lomedico, spoke about the company’s history, employee ownership and our work.  In discussing the recent Pacific Life Insurance renovation project, field superintendent, Ben Rhamy, described the surprises we often encounter when remodeling older buildings, and in meeting new requirements not in existence at the time of their original build.  We also got a glimpse into the work process of a few of our CAD technicians, Stephen Rorong and Joseph Manahan, who created CAD drawings used on that project.

The “Inside the Blueprint” film crew adjusts the lighting for Ben Rhamy to describe his work on the Pacific Life Insurance renovation project.

For those of us not in the filming industry, it’s always a surprise to see just how much planning, filming and editing time it takes to result in a few minutes of polished final production. In that way, it’s not so unlike construction. The beautiful buildings we admire are the facades which reflect the experience and knowledge of each of the many trades who work together on any construction project.

It was an interesting and highly unusual day for us, one we all enjoyed.  We would like to thank the production crew: videographer Michelle Coulson; associate producer, Christian Fazio and virtual producer, Tyrone Byers. Special thanks to our liaison, production project manager, Lilliana Buccellati, for working with us so closely on this.
