Giroux Glass Wins 2022 Best Decorative Glass Application Award

Glass Magazine, just announced that Giroux Glass, Inc. has won the 2022 Best Decorative Glass Application for our work on the Metro Crenshaw/LAX Transit in Los Angeles. The winning project was achieved through constant collaboration, working closely together to see the vision of everyone involved to fruition. We want to thank and share our award with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors, HNTB, Glasswerks, Inc., GlasPro, and the artists Erwin Redl, Mara Lonner and Ingrid Calame. The final quality of this wouldn’t have been possible without our internal team of skilled professionals led by John Cox, Angel Apodaca, George Dominguez and Amanda Torigiani.

“The 2022 Glass Magazine Award winners provide real-life examples of how glass and glazing can work to improve the lives of building occupants while demonstrating the incredible range of what is possible with glass as a material,” says Katy Devlin, associate publisher and editor in chief of Glass Magazine.

The majority of the decisions for the quality and craftsmanship were determined during the design and planning stages. Multiple meetings were held with all stakeholders and all concerns were taken into account to conform to the scope of work and accommodate the unique vision for the finished project. By working hand-in-hand with the locally selected artists, Giroux Glass was able to bring the various visions to life. We carefully selected materials that would fit the environment, be anti-graffiti, and align from panel to panel. Our approach was from a total quality-control method where we worked with suppliers that insisted on using nothing but the best materials on this showcase project.

“Giroux Glass is proud to have won the Glass Magazine 2022 Best Decorative Glass award for our work with the Metro Crenshaw/LAX Transit team. We listened to what the artists’ visions were and, with the help of our amazing partners, brought them to reality.” – John Cox, director of CA project operations. “When everyone works together, the end result is amazing.”

The competition’s seven project winners are featured in the August issue of Glass Magazine. Winners will also be recognized at a ceremony at GlassBuild America: The Glass Window & Door Expo in Las Vegas, Oct. 18-20, 2022.
