Once Again Giroux Glass is “Great Place to Work” Certified!

Giroux Glass has consistently ranked on several lists as one of the “Best” or “Great Places to Work” (depending on the list) for over ten years. This year is no different, as Great Place to Work® recently certified us for the third year in a row. In previous years, we also made the lists for “Best Places to Work” (by the Los Angeles Business Journal) and “Best Places to Work in the Glass and Metal Industry” (by USGlass Metal and Glazing Magazine).
Most of these lists are based on employees’ input. We are proud to have been honored with other work-related awards listed here, but these particular lists reflect what it’s like to work for Giroux Glass. We’re delighted whenever we make these lists, and for those who don’t work here, we’d like to offer a few reasons that explain these accolades:

1. We are 100% Employee-Owned.

In 2007, Giroux Glass became a proud ESOP company, enabling our employees to purchase shares, and to become personally vested in the success and growth of our company. In October 2017, we became 100% employee-owned. According to a study conducted by the National Center of Employee Ownership (NCEO), among the sampled workers, workers who are employee-owners have 92% higher median household wealth, 33% higher income from wages and 53% longer median job tenure relative to workers who are not employee-owners. This all makes for happier employees! Our average employee tenure is fifteen years, including our field glaziers. And as co-owners, we refer to each other as “partners,” rather than as “employees.”

2. We are a Culture-Driven Company.

Here at Giroux Glass, we take pride in building a company culture centered on our core values: Growth, Integrity, Respect, Ownership, and eXcellence. (See what we did there? That spells “GIROUX!”) We have two committees of dedicated employees that volunteer their time to help make Giroux Glass a fun and forward-thinking work environment.

The Culture Committee

The mission of the Culture Committee is to continually maintain and promote a culture of high-performing ownership thinking. They meet monthly to plan events such as our company picnics, holiday parties, potlucks, monthly birthday celebrations, October ESOP month, and other surprises throughout each year. These events help to provide an educational and fun environment that embraces diversity, change, and open communication. The company also supports and promotes physical, as well as mental well-being for all employees.

The Steering Committee

The Steering committee acts as a liaison between employees and executives. They meet to facilitate our Idea Drive/Rapid Improvement Plan programs, through which employees are encouraged to submit ideas that can better our company in any way. They work together to bring employees suggestions to management, and ultimately, to bring those ideas to life. The Steering Committee is also responsible for our employee-of-the-month program, in which it honors and rewards a monthly “Core Value Superstar.”

3. We Have the Best Employees

We believe that we are a great place to work because of our employees. During the hiring process, we take the time to hire people who are not only great at what they do, but more importantly, through panel interviews, seek the candidates who will be a wonderful fit with our culture. We are a family that is constantly growing in size, as well as expertise. With a history of over 70 years in the glazing industry, we have seen the industry, trends and technology change, but one thing that remains constant is our dedication to our work and our love for what we do. When you love what you do, it shows, and everyone, including our customers, benefits.

“Great Place to Work®” is the global authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures. It is an honor to, once again, be certified as a Great Place to Work on a national scale. A summary of our ratings can be found at http://reviews.greatplacetowork.com/giroux-glass-inc.
