Project Scope and Description

For over 20 years, the team at Giroux has been providing the stunning Sheats-Goldstein residence with our glazing expertise.

Located in Los Angeles’ Benedict Canyon neighborhood, the famous home was designed by renowned architect John Lautner in 1963. It’s highly recognizable as a setting for a number of Hollywood films, including Charlie’s Angels and The Big Lebowski, as well as photo shoots for magazines like Vanity Fair. The house also boasts the distinction of being the L.A. County Museum of Art’s first-ever architecture acquisition.

Our Process

The residence is located on a steep hillside, which allows for incredible views, but makes access challenging for the specialized glasswork it requires. For example, our most recent project for the home—a private nightclub—required our glaziers to install several 14-foot-tall panels of glass, each weighing over 1,000 pounds, in a hard-to-access corner of the property. Our team used a Spydercrane and Gradall to ensure these enormous lites were safely manipulated and installed.

Additionally, the home’s unique architecture presents specific challenges to our work, as it features virtually no right angles. As a result, the vast majority of the house’s glass pieces must be custom-cut and installed with extreme precision to align with the home’s unconventional design.
