Pechanga Resort Casino Expansion, Phase 2

Project Scope and Description

When it originally opened in 2002 in Southern California’s Temecula Valley wine region, Pechanga Resort Casino measured 200,000 square feet. Owned and operated by the Pechanga Band of Indians, they planned several phases of expansions to be completed over three years starting in 2015. The first was a new parking structure adding 2,400 parking spaces; the second added 568 hotel rooms and suites, a spa, event center and a restaurant. The final phase added a 4.5-acre pool complex and another restaurant. 

Giroux Glass was enlisted to perform the glazing on the second phase, which started in February 2017. The most challenging aspect of this project was in meeting an aggressive ten-month timeline. The goal was accomplished, and the project was completed in December 2017.  

The highlights of our scope included glazing installation over 100,000 feet of unitized curtain wall on the hotel portion, and the glazing on the project’s innovative podium. Installation took place on several distinct areas of the resort, as follows:

  • Viracon: 1” insulated units with Evergreen glass with a low-E coating
  • Wausau: 7250i-UW INvision “unitized curtainwall”, Painted on Exterior “Pechanga Copper,” interior “champagne anodized”

  • Panda: HSW-TS.60 thermally broken horizontal sliding wall system with 90′ corner
