The Women of Giroux Glass

March 7th is not only International Women’s Day, it’s also the kickoff of “WIC Week” — the annual 7-day celebration honoring women in construction (WIC). At Giroux Glass, we take seriously this industry-wide effort to support women workers, and appreciate that there is an entire week dedicated to recognizing their dedication and hard work. While we aim to honor the women on our team year-round, we thought this week called for a little something special. In celebration of the fantastic work they do every day, and in the spirit of WIC Week, we created this video highlighting the women of Giroux Glass.

Women have played a major role in evolving our 75-year-old business into the thriving company it is today. We’re proud to exceed the industry norm of a workforce comprised of just 10% female employees, especially as it pertains to management positions. At Giroux Glass, women hold key roles at every level, starting with our CEO and president (Nataline Lomedico). In fact, until we became 100% employee owned in 2017, we held a women business enterprise (WBE) certification.

Giroux Glass also supports the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), the organization behind WIC Week. NAWIC has designated the theme for this year’s WIC Week as “Connect, Collaborate and Construct.” Our director of marketing and public relations, Barbara Kotsos, serves as this year’s president of NAWIC’s Los Angeles chapter. The organization is partnering with the Orange County chapter to host a series of virtual educational events.  A number of our team members — both male and female — will attend the educational sessions and fundraiser.

Our company strongly believes in diversity and inclusion, and for our teams, we hire the best people for the job. It just so happens that in many cases, the best candidates are women. We salute our hard-working and hard-hatted women. Without them, we wouldn’t be Giroux Glass.
