Marketing/Public Relations Assistant (Los Angeles, CA)

Based in: Los Angeles, CA (Training starts in LA, permanent location in Orange County)

Reports to: Director of Marketing/Public Relations

Type of Position: Full-time, non-exempt

Works closely with director of marketing/ PR on implementation of marketing initiatives and activities. Solicits material from internal colleagues, writes original content for marketing and internal communications, social media sites, corporate blog and website. Takes and edits great photos (of projects and people) for company use. Communicates with industry media staff to provide information, upon request. Knowledge of Photoshop and excellent writing skills are both required; experience with Hubspot a plus.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Performs administrative functions in support of marketing department;
  • Updates website regularly by writing and posting original content and photos to all website pages;
  • Provides photos and content to social media team;
  • Creates the weekly company newsletter;
  • Assists Director of Marketing/PR with event planning and community outreach activities;
  • Assists in distribution and delivery of marketing materials;
  • Prepares company marketing materials and presentations, including updating photos and latest new projects;
  • Maintains data base of public relations contacts
  • Analyzes effectiveness of our social media and outreach programs;
  • Submits entries for industry awards and contests;
  • Original designs of simple flyers and small print ads occasionally required;
  • Assists with trade shows: attends, prepares materials for, represents company

Skills:

  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experienced in Windows operating system and WordPress
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Publisher, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Talented in graphic design and/or photo correction program: Illustrator or Photoshop
  • Creative with an eye for good design
  • Exhibits good judgment and decision making
  • Eager to take on new challenges

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree, or
  • Communications or Marketing-related certificate from accredited University
